Lunch and Learn: Library is Hosting Functional Food Series

The Ocean City Free Public Library is hosting several Zoom presentations by Chris Zellers, family and community health science educator of Cape May County for Rutgers Cooperative Extensions.

Here are the presentations as follows:

April 13 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

“Functional Foods-Berries”

Functional Foods-Berries will increase viewers’ knowledge about berries, including historical, processing and preparation facts. It will allow participants to understand the current research and health benefits of berries and identify the recommendations for including berries in a healthful plant-based diet.

September 14 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

“Functional Foods-Mushrooms”

Functional Foods-Mushrooms will increase participants’ knowledge about mushrooms, including historical, processing and preparation facts, it will create an understanding of the current research and health benefits of mushrooms, and identify the recommendations for including mushrooms in a healthful plant-based diet.

November 9 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

“Functional Foods-Coffee”

Functional Foods-Coffee will increase viewer knowledge about coffee, including its plant origin and historical, processing and preparation facts.  It will introduce participants to the current research and health benefits of coffee and identify the recommendations for including coffee in a healthful plant-based diet.
